Beams of sunlight drifted down from the treetops, setting the trail aglow in the early morning.Despite the fact that it Was only eight in the morning, it was, to say the least, a decent day.A light wind caressed my face, entwining itself in my hair and lifting it gently.Everything around us was silent accept the rhythmic thudding of my horses hooves.I glanced at her, forgetting everything for a moment. She really was a great horse, even if she did have her issues.Hell, she had a worse life then me and thats saying a lot.Rebel use to be owned by some rich snob. When she failed to place in the races he had entered her in she was beaten and sold to slaughter. My dad had bought her for me, seeing it a way to keep me out of trouble.Hardly worked though.I never really did know my place, I just kind of went wherever seamed right at the time...
The path in front of Rebel and I began to wind and I knew that it was only a matter of time before the water would be upon us.That didn't really bother me.As much of a handful as the 17.2 hh bay mare could be, she had mellowed down quite a bit, hopefully enough to pass through water. Before we had left for this stable I had taken her to the beach, just to see how she would act. That was probably the most fun she had ever had.I never had expected her to be particularly fond of water but time and time again she loved to prove me wrong. It wasn't long before the light trickling of water reached my ears.Rebel seamed to have heard it to for she became a little more hasty to pick up speed.I knew better then to let her get away with it though.Rebel was the kind of horse that was just that way, you give em and inch they run a mile, literally sometimes.

I eased her to a stop as the small body of water come before us.The water was fairly clean and it didn't look as if there were any fish in this part, at least not anything big enough to set Rebel off. As I slid down from the saddle she shied away in the direction of the calm, sunlight water. It would be nice to get me feet wet...Rolling my eyes at nothing in particular I stripped Rebel of her saddle and other tack, the only thing left being the bridle and reins which I pulled over her head so I could lead her. Slipping my shoes off I walked to the edge of the water.Sitting down I briskly plopped both feet in.Rebel was a bit more enthusiastic, pulling the reins free from my hands and wading into about knee high.It more then likely wasn't much deeper then that.I chuckled as she pawed at the water creating mini tsunami waves that rushed cowards me.Lightly I flicked a bit of water back at her, knowing her well enough to say that she wasn't about to take off.

I glared at the reins that were now soaked from the water, drooping in front of her.Standing up I moved deeper into the water until I reached her side. She turned her great head to nudge me, almost knocking me backward. A chuckle rose from within me as I lifted the reins back over her head so there was no chance at her tripping on them.

Yep, just us girls having a little splash party!

A low snort erupted from her and she began to prance in a circle before me.Droplets of water washed onto my face and red hair.Laughing I backed up to sit on the bank, knowing all to well she would come out when she was done.[size]
